October 30th - November 3rd

It was so great seeing all the students dressed up in their costumes this week! We enjoyed some Halloween centres, a Halloween Parade and had lots of fun doing some STEM activities with our Grade 4 buddies!

Learning Intention:
- Students develop skills of critical and creative thinking

I Can:
- Consider ideas and information from varies sources
- Compare and contrast information provided

The challenge for the M/W Class was to create a structure to go with the 'The 5 Five Little Pumpkins' song. They were given various materials and asked to build a 'gate' for the 5 pumpkins to sit on. They were encouraged to test the stability of their structure as well as create a variety of different styles of gates (taller, longer, etc).

The  challenge for the T/Th Class was to get their spider to move using only the materials they were given. After some discussion, the students soon figured out that they could use their straw to blow the spider into motion. Some groups had spider races, some experimented with trying to move the spider in different directions, and some designed mini obstacle courses for their spiders to adventure through!
