It was a wonderful, wintery week in Kindergarten! Thank you so much for making sure your child was dressed appropriately for the weather this week. Students were able to have lots of fun and enjoy their outside time at recess because they were warm and dry! We worked hard on remembering the best order to put all of our snow stuff on and gained more independence doing it each day!

Learning Intention:
- Children explore how messages can be organized
I Can:
- Explore messages shared for different reasons
- Identify where reading begins and where to go after (return sweep)
- Identify the first and last letter in a word
- Identify the first and last word on a page or in a message
- Identify corresponding written words as they are read aloud
Everyday we read the morning message together as a class. The students are always excited to be 'reading detectives' and figure out what it says! They are beginning to recognize patterns in the words I use each time I write the message (Good morning Kinders! / Love Ms. H 💗) and are eager to use the 'fun finger' to point to the words as we read them. We also have lots of playing 'I Spy' where I challenge them to locate different letters, sounds and words in the message. We are learning about correct direction for reading, simple forms of punctuation and what a sentence is.
We also started our library visits this week!
Library day for the Monday/Wednesday class will be on Wednesdays and the Tuesday/Thursday class will visit the library on Thursdays. We talked about taking very good care of the books we have borrowed and the importance of remembering to return them each week so that others may have a chance to borrow them too!
