September 25th - 29th

It was a very busy week as we honoured Terry Fox with our school run as well as National Day for Truth and Reconciliation with Orange Shirt Day.

As part of our learning in Social Studies, children begin to demonstrate an understanding of the multiple social, physical, cultural and linguistic factors that contribute to an individual's unique identity.

Learning Intentions:
- students appreciate characteristics, interests, gifts and talents of others

I Can:
- appreciate feelings, ideas, stories and experiences shared by others
- value the oral traditions of others

Terry Fox Run

We listened to stories about Terry Fox and learned all about his 'Power of One' attitude. Some of us made personal connections and shared our own stories about cancer and our loved ones. We were reminded of the importance of always trying to help others and leaving lots of Heartprints wherever we go.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Each day, The Morning Cree Song invites us to come together at the carpet. Students always listen and watch closely, noticing the different language, landscapes, animals and instruments. We have been working on learning the meaning of the words as well as how to sing them.

We have also been working on learning the following Land Acknowledgement -
