October 2nd - 6th

💛 Happy Thanksgiving 💛
Hope your weekend was full of lots of love and laughter

Learning Intention:
- children examine and describe surrounding environments
- children explore listening and speaking skills through a variety of literacy experiences

I Can:
- use my senses to make observations about the environment
- represent a local environment in nature
- practice my listening and speaking skills through sharing oral stories
- share stories, songs or poems individually or as part of a group

This week we practiced slowing down and looking closely while exploring the nature areas around our school. We were eager to learn what the land had to teach us and excitedly became wrapped up in the different nature stories happening all around us!  We talked lots about the changes we saw happening...which sparked our thinking and had us coming up with many wonderful wonders such as -
  • Why do leaves fall off the trees?
  • What happen to all the ladybugs?
  • Why can we still see the moon in the sky during the day?
  • How do some berries end up so far away from the tree they fell off?
  • What makes the leaves and grass so wet in morning?

Back inside the classroom, we listened to a story called 'The Fox and the Falling Leaves' and talked about how sometimes change can be hard and a little scary...but often it can also mean new adventures and learning. We made up our own song about the falling leaves and had lots of fun acting out the different parts!

Fall stories came to life at our loose parts centres, as students created beautiful works of art with the collection of fall inspired objects!
